Youthwords Writing Contest

This year's theme is Containment.

Wordstock’s 8th annual literary festival is coming this November, and once again we want to give young voices a chance to be heard and celebrated. The Youthwords contest accepts submissions of short stories and poetry. There will be cash prizes for the winners and runners-up in both the short story and poetry categories. The winners will also be published in The Sudbury Star.

First Place Short Story - $150
Runner Up Short Story - $75
First Place Poem - $150
Runner Up Poem - $75

Short stories can be a maximum of 1000 words.
Poems can be a maximum of 20 lines, and each submission can include 2 poems.

Submissions can be sent to youthwords@wordstock.ca until October 24, 2021. 

Submissions must include a separate cover page with:

  • the title of your entry

  • your name, address, phone number, and email address

  • your date of birth

  • your grade

DO NOT include your name on the other pages of your submission.

There is no entry fee.
