Wordstock Sudbury Literary Festival 2020

Wordstock Sudbury is thrilled to announce that the 2020 Wordstock Sudbury Literary Festival will be presented as a hybrid festival offering some limited in-person sessions in combination with digital experiences from November 5-8, 2020.

The Wordstock Sudbury Board of Directors have been carefully monitoring the public health situation along with our government’s re-opening plans. This decision comes after extensive discussion about how best to continue with the festival and bring the literary arts to Sudbury in a safe and meaningful way.

Our program will continue to be the dynamic program you are used to with authors and other artists carefully paired together to create a sampling of the best of Canadian Literature.

Program Highlights:

  • Lee Maracle, Columpa Bobb and Tania Carter
  • Amanda Leduc
  • Robert Sawyer
  • Chelene Knight
  • Danny Ramadan
  • Eleanor Albanese
  • Rod Carley

Wordstock Sudbury also has a new look for 2020. We worked with Cambrian College design students as part of design-a-thon to bring our vision for the 2020 festival to life. The designs reflect the unique city of Sudbury with a molten slag-like backdrop to pay homage to Sudbury’s industrial and mining roots blended with the image of elegant marbled endpaper that can be found in old books. The design is meant to also represent the diversity that we value in our community and seek to amplify as a festival. The designers chose to highlight this by including some of the most common languages spoken in Sudbury.
