Wordstock is a literary festival for people who love exchanging ideas, respect the power of words, enjoy theatre, love local history, writers, and people who are interesting in writing. It is for anyone who wants to meet interesting people who live in our community.
There will be English and French programs, music, and children’s programming from 10 am noon.
The Greater Sudbury Public Library will present a fun and educational session for tweens at 1 pm,  Children will be admitted free.
Admission is pay what you can (suggested minimum $10)

Workshops/June 8/STC Rehearsal Hall, June 8

Publishing Business – Laurence Steven of Scrivener Press, 10 am

Laurence has published many Northern Ontario authors and writers. He will take the mystery out of the business of getting published.

L’espace géographique dans l’univers poétique franco-ontarien – Sonia Lamontagne et Daniel Groleau Landry, 11 am

Originaire de Fauquier dans le Nord de l’Ontario, Sonia Lamontagne a complété ses études de premier cycle en littérature, en psychologie et en éducation à l’Université Laurentienne. Après avoir consacré deux années à l’enseignement, elle poursuit ses études en rédaction professionnelle et édition à l’Université d’Ottawa.

Daniel Groleau Landry est originaire de Sudbury et vit présentement à Toronto. Poète signé par Mars pour ses initiatives telles Les Productions Àlacharge qu’il a créées et qu’il gère depuis deux ans, un organisme multidisciplinaire qui regroupe de jeunes artistes de la capitale nationale, et par la Lune qui féconde son imaginaire telle une pignata.

Bookmaking and Binding / Atelier de reliure avec Mireille Ménard, noon

This is a fun and informative workshop. There will be an additional charge of $10 for materials.

Treasure hunting for stories with Dieter Buse, 2 pm
Dieter, co-writer of Come on Over, a book about northeastern Ontario stories, will entertain and inspire with northern tales that could be the subject of your next book.

The Creative Process with Heather Campbell, 3 pm
Join local freelance writer Heather Campbell to tap into the creative process and discover your talent.

Pitch Slam, 4 pm
Go ahead and pitch your book idea, magazine article idea or just a story idea to local editors and writers Laurence Steven, Vicki Gilhula and Heather Campbell.
